Steamboat at Sri Petaling!!
If you love huddling over a hotpot with friends or family, spend rainy nights in Sri Petaling at Ho Ho Steamboat. Hailing from Pulau Ketam, the restaurant is famed for its enjoyable clear soup base, void of thirst-inducing MSG, and the unique addition of Crab Roe (RM8.50 per 100g), which bursts with fresh, sweet flavours that also help render the broth amazing. To fill up, order their Steamboat Set (from RM39.80). It comes with prawns, meatballs, sliced meats, tofu, vegetables, eggs and noodles. Portions are customised to pax and there is a minimum order of two pax, which we recommend for sharing between three people — especially if you're keen on top ups from the a la carte menu. The thinly sliced Pork Belly (RM18.80), Meat Ball with Minced Pork (RM6) and QQ Tofu (RM6) are great additions. No matter what's in your pot, be sure to lay on the potent homemade chili sauce!

Suppertime steamboat at Ho Ho! This used to be one of my favourite places for steamboat, and it'd still be if I hadn't moved further away. The clear soup that sweetens with the addition of prawns, crab roe and plenty of meat, as well as that punch-packed homemade chili sauce just seals the experience here. For sliced pork belly, a variety of meatballs, vegetables and tofu, our bill came up to about RM65 and we were already stuffing ourselves towards the end. They also have a set option at RM39.80 for two. Come early if you want a seat in the air-conditioned space, or rough it out in the open like we did! (Steamboat's a lot more fun that way).
