The “pau” (by the way, in case you’re scratching your head wondering what in the blue hell is PAU?!!, they’re actually fluffy steamed Chinese buns, also known as ‘baos’ in other languages, with an assortment of fillings) at Klang Food Centre were mostly satisfactory, with their Curry Chicken Pau being the most sought-after item on the menu. Resembling Kampar’s famous Curry Chicken Bread in some ways, you actually can find an aluminium container containing curry chicken, encased within the dough, then baked together. And at an inflated size, the same as their equally famous “Tai Pau” (or BIG Pau, literally), the Curry Chicken Bun is definitely made for sharing as well.
Located along the same row as Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh, Restoran Klang Food Centre is Chinese kopitiam famous for handmade pau. Besides pau, Klang Food Centre also offers a variety of savoury snacks like yam puff, yam cake, sesame ball with peanuts, dumpling and peanut kok chye.

But of course, Klang Food Centre is not just another run of the mill type of Chinese coffee shop famous for their pau and some savoury snacks (such as Lor Mai Gai or Steamed Glutinous Rice with Chicken, Mushroom and Waxed Sausages), for they have been featured in various means of media publicity, from the Chinese dailies pasted on the tiled walls, to the proudly displayed badge from 8TV’s food show, Ho Chak.

I bought a few pau back to try (Vegetable Pau, Char Siew Pau and Sang Yuk Pau). The handmade pau was very good; soft and fluffy with juicy filling. Both the Char Siew Pau and Sang Yuk Pau taste good but as for the Vegetable Pau, I prefer the ones from Dengkil Kah Heong Pao (龙溪家乡海南包).
Verdict: Klang Food Centre (巴生小食馆) is a kopitiam located at Taman Intan in Klang selling a variety of delicious handmade pau. The signature pau includes Curry Chicken Pau, Vegetable Pau, Tai Pau, Char Siew Pau and Mui Chai Pau. If you like homemade pau, do drop by here after your Bak Kut Teh feast and grab the pau back to steam yourself but if you still have space in your stomach, grab some hot ones and eat it on the spot. The handmade pau here are soft and fluffy with juicy filling
